EVENTS

Diaries, Notes and Dreams
This month at Mustache Cinema, join us for a selection of 'diary film's where the camera becomes the pen and the celluloid the paper. These works are personal expressions and visual sketchbooks constructed from the filmmaker's most intimate moments. Fleeting memories and dreams are frozen in cinematic time as honest and loving 16mm portraits presented by Saul Levine, Su Friedrich, Michael Wallin, and Stan Brakhage.

I Am Thankful For Hand-made Films
In the month of November, when many thanks are given, Mustache Cinema would like to give recognition to the art of hand-made films. Filmmakers Phil Solomon, Robert Schaller,
Maia Cybelle Carpenter, David Gatten, Jennifer Reeves, and Ken Paul Rosenthal participate in a more natural and direct relationship with their work. Their films have been self-processed, chemically manipulated, painted, toned, soaked in the Atlantic Ocean and buried underground. The results of such experimentation peel back layers of emulsion and awaken embedded celluloid grain--giving their pictures the bubbling textures and rhythmic color shifts that can only come from hand-made films, which we are thankful for.

A George Kuchar Triple Threat
This October, Mustache honors the outrageous films of George Kuchar by screening his underground 60s trilogy: Hold Me While I'm Naked (1966), Eclipse Of The Sun Virgin (1967), and Knocturne (1968). Don't miss this 16mm event filled with campy melodramas, overbearing mother figures, repressed sexual desires and B-movie worthy soundtracks. Pre-Halloween costumes are HEAVILY encouraged. Candy and pumpkin painting for the first 13 attendees.
